Ephemeral Harmonies (易逝的和声)
Time moves ceaselessly, dissolving moments before we can grasp them. Each fleeting instant vanishes, leaving only traces in memory. Yet, through photography, fragments of time can linger—unanchored yet alive, like echoes of a melody once played.
In this series, two images, captured at different times and places, come together to form a new visual dialogue—one that neither could speak alone. Their pairing creates an unexpected resonance, an interplay of light, form, and meaning that reveals connections unseen in isolation. These images are Ephemeral, ephemeral as passing clouds, yet through their union, they achieve a fleeting harmony, a momentary stillness that transcends time.
The title, "Ephemeral Harmonies" (易逝的和声), reflects this paradox—the tension between impermanence and permanence, between separation and unity. In Chinese, 易逝 suggests the transient nature of all things, the way moments slip away like water through our hands. 和声, or "harmony," evokes the way two notes, though distinct, can create something fuller and more profound when played together.
These diptychs do not seek to freeze time but rather to reconstruct it, weaving together disparate moments into a single expression. They are dialogues across time, echoes of the past resonating in the present, reminding us that even what is most fleeting may find a way to remain.
